Park of Memory

Welcome to Piazzale Pasquale Paoli, in the heart of L’Aquila. This urban space connects via XX Settembre to the Villa Comunale and has been completely redeveloped to become the “Park of Memory,” dedicated to the victims of the April 6, 2009 earthquake.

The park is arranged on three levels and harmoniously integrates with the Villa Comunale and the Monument to the Fallen. At its center is a striking monumental fountain, symbolizing collective memory, where, on the fifteenth anniversary of the earthquake, a brazier was lit to represent hope and rebirth. This place invites reflection, remembrance, and the celebration of the city’s and its community’s resilience.
